Q: How can the interior design of a home impact it’s mood and environment?

The mood is truly dependent upon: A) Which Room B) Whether the client wants a serene or an energized space filled with color Environmentally we try to be cognizant of sustainability! Our vendors are trying to be more sensitive to how they are sourcing items . We try to support local craftsmen and small businesses like our own.

Q: For those of us without a natural disposition for seeing space and seeing the potential in a space, can you give us some insight into how you unlock the potential in a given space?

Step 1. Listen intently to their wants Step 2. Measure Step 3. Present a few designs options to try to combine their vision and what our vision is for their space.

Q: What’s the best way for people to consult with you?

Usually clients reach out to us from a referral , email or phone call. We can do a phone call, a visit to the space or a zoom. It’s much easier to be inspired when seeing the space in person

Q: What are some of your guiding principles both as designers and in business?

Honesty is the key, especially with all of the supply chain issues we are facing. That is why we’ve been able to stay in business for 18 years, because of our ethics and vision.

How long have you guys been doing this both individually and as a team?

Evelyn since 1981, Jim since 1985 and together since 2004

How does working with clients to meet their design desires influence a project and how do you come to a collective compromise as to what the finished product will be?

We listen to their goals and try to actualize what their perspective wishes are for their home

How did you guys get into interior design both individually and as a duo?

We both dreamed to be interior designs from a very young age. We were constantly rearranging our bedrooms and choosing new colors and comforters! We both are Art Institute Graduates

What inspires you both individually and collectively in regards to your work ? What muses do you pull from that make their way into your craft?

We’re inspired by things that we see everyday, other designers, by history, museums, art galleries. We always have our eyes open

Traveling and our buying trips also give us a unique and new perspective as to how we look at a space.

What would you say that the most rewarding aspect of doing what you guys do?

To see a project completed with the customers vision and their happiness in enjoying their new space!

How did the pandemic affect your business and work at all, both in terms of the logistics of the business as well as adapting to all the safety concerns people may have and had?

We adapted to presenting whole projects via zoom and mailing samples to clients. We were relying on our customer’s plans and it was really surprising how well it worked! The supply chain was (and is still) our biggest nemesis
